The Introduction of Laparoscopic and Robot-Assisted Surgery for Complex Cases

Yoshiyuki Matsui

2023/10/1

While we primarily handle surgeries for urological and retroperitoneal tumors, the proportion of laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgeries in our standard procedures is steadily increasing. The minimally invasive nature of laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgeries in comparison to open surgery is highly advantageous. We are continuously working to apply these techniques to even more challenging surgeries. We have observed that complex cases, such as laparoscopic retroperitoneal tumor removal and robot-assisted radical prostatectomy and cystectomy after radiation therapy, can be performed safely. We anticipate that this will further expand the range of treatment options available to patients in the future.
