NCCH was the first hospital in Japan to begin using the MRI-guided radiotherapy system MRIdian. This system enables direct observation of tumor location with MRI even during radiation, which allows for pinpoint precision beyond what is possible with conventional radiotherapy. In addition, this system enables more precise stereotactic radiotherapy for sites previously difficult to treat with conventional radiotherapy devices, such as liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, and abdominal lymph node metastases. We plan to actively leverage MRIdian in radiotherapy for our international patients as well. The system was updated since the autumn in 2021, and re-started in July 2022 with the newest linear accelerator system.
