What is ICRweb?
Introduction to Clinical Research web (ICRweb) is an Internet-based educational program operated by the National Cancer Center. Its purpose is to create and disseminate clinical research education programs. In addition to providing education, the NCC aims to provide up-to-date and useful information on clinical research and to provide a forum for the exchange of information for those involved in clinical research.
ICRweb was opened to the public in 2005, and its content has been enriched due to funding by Health and Labor Sciences Research Grants (FY 2006–2014). We currently provide education on the expertise required for planning, conducting, and supporting clinical research (regulations on clinical research and pharmaceutical affairs, GCP, ethics, statistics, data management, EC/IRB, quality control, and project management). As of January 2022, 48 courses (302 lectures) have been made available to the public, and a total of approximately 150,000 users have registered and taken training courses. In addition, GCP training was approved by TransCelerate in October 2017 as GCP training required prior to engaging in a clinical trial.
The ATLAS project has newly created English versions of its content in order to expand this knowledge to people not only in Japan but also overseas. There are some courses on recent topics in cancer clinical trials: Cancer Genomic Medicine, ISO 15189 Accreditation Support, Phase 1 Trial Development, and CRC Training. These are designed to enable participants to acquire knowledge essential for conducting clinical research.
*The official name of ICR is Introduction to Clinical Research.
